                                      Green Smoothies...

          Green smoothies... what are they? Green smoothies contain leafy greens, a liquid base and other ripe fruit. They are great for energy boosting and if you're not a morning person , green smoothies can help you revive your energy causing you to jump back on your feet and do what you need to do! They may  not look aesthetically pleasing, but people claim that they are absolutely worthy drinking.


Green smoothies are very beneficial for your body . It can help you:
-Lose weight naturally without you starving and you will still consume the nutrients and antioxidants that you need in order to stay healthy and keep your energy high
-Fight diseases that are life threatening and help you live a little longer because the plant based chemicals help your immune system stay strong
-Save time! If you're running late and you don't want to go to work or school on a empty stomach, you can throw some fruits and vegetables and leafy greens into your blender and it only takes a few minutes
-Wake up in the morning easier and help you stay vibrant throughout the entire day
-Change for the better. Your diet will become healthier when you cut down on the unhealthy junk food and replace the cupcakes with a green smoothie which gives you 10 times the nutrients than a cupcake does!


                            Green Smoothie Recipe!

Now it's time for you to make your OWN green smoothie!

2 cups of leafy greens + 3 cups of fruit + 2 cups of liquid base = Your green smoothie
*This serves two people *32 ounces

You can use :
-Spinach
-Kale
-Romaine
-Broccoli
-Carrot
-Cucumbers
-Tomatoes
-Mustard greens

And for your liquid base:
-Almond milk
-Milk
-Water
-Coconut water
-Coconut milk

Last but not least you can use:
-Strawberries
-Mango
-Grapes
-Apples
-Bananas
-Peach
-Pineapple
-Avocado
-Kiwi
-Blueberries
-Blackberries
-Raspberries

INGREDIENTS FOR A SUPER-FOODS SMOOTHIE

  • 2 large bananas, peeled, sliced, and frozen           
  • Large handful of spinach (about 1.5 cups)
  • 1/2 of a large apple, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • optional: 1 Tablespoon ground flax             
  • 7 large strawberries, sliced
  • 1 tsp of peanut butter

  • Directions:
  • 1) Put one banana , the spinach, apple, flax seeds and 1/4 cup of almond milk into the blender and blend until the texture is nice, creamy and smooth.
  • 2) Pour the liquid into the cups
  • 3) Put the other banana, strawberries ,1/4 cup of almond milk and peanut butter and blend until it is smooth.
  • 4) Pour the liquid on top of the green liquid so that the smoothie is layered
  • 5) Serve immediately and enjoy!
  • *Your smoothie does not have to be layered so you can put all the ingredients directly into the blender and blend them all at once

Benefits of this green smoothie :
Bananas are high in vitamins C and B6, manganese, potassium, and fiber, and are good for the cardiovascular system, eyes and keeps your bones strong.
Spinach is low in fat and low in cholesterol and have a variety of vitamins (A,C,E,K and B6) and have protein and is very high in iron
Strawberries are actually very interesting and they aren't fruits but they are actually part of the rose family. Strawberries can whiten your teeth, improve your digestive system, helping you with skin irritations and can make your blood sugar level regular. The antioxidants are also very important because they can help you prevent yourself from inflammation and other diseases such as cancer.
Apples also have antioxidants and can help prevent cancer and diabetes.
Peanut butter can help you with your muscles since they are high in protein and also are good for your bones.
Flax seeds are these tiny little seeds that contain omega 3, vitamin B1 and dietary fibers which are good for your digestive system
Almond milk doesn't contain lactose and has less fat than cow's milk and doesn't really affect your blood sugar level.
